About

Clarinetist and multi-instrumentalist Nikolas Oberländer is merging jazz with the sounds of the world while based in Hamburg, Germany.

Nikolas studied jazz clarinet, saxophone and flute at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, taking every opportunity to travel and study abroad. Immersing themself in the musical practice and tradition of different places like the Dominican Republic, Mongolia, Italy, Austria, and Portugal inspired a profound intensity even in the most delicate passages and shaped Nikolas’ ongoing development of their very own sound of the jazz clarinet.

Nikolas is involved in several live-projects in Hamburg as well as working as a session musician and teacher.
